Quantitative Physics -This is the “Word” God gave me
today. It could not have come from my personal intelligence
because I don’t know what it is, but it sure seems to fit the
program. I’ll explain.
This morning I was weed-eating and minding my own
business. There was just the sound of the weed eater and my own
thoughts. I was thinking to myself how if people can see us from
Heaven how come they don’t see or know the evil. You know, like looking down and praying and encouraging
us as in the great cloud of witnesses.
There can’t be sin in Heaven or knowledge of it. I was also
wondering how it could be that one minute Adam and Eve were naked and the next,
after eating from the tree of good and evil, they knew what sin was. They were just fair questions I was pondering in my
mind. Like how can this be, how does
that happen?
And then the phrase “Quantitative Physics” pops in my head. Like it had always been there.
Although I don’t know what it means. I get the
root word “quantity” out of it and I think physics has
to do with science. So in my novice terms – Lots of
science. I looked up both words when I
got in the house. Quantitative means “relating to, concerning or based on the amount or
number of something and capable of being measured or expressed in numerical
terms.” Physics by definition is “the scientific study of matter, energy, force, motion,
and the way they relate to each other.
Physics traditionally incorporates mechanics, electromagnetism, optics,
and thermodynamics and now includes modern disciplines such a quantum
mechanics, relativity and nuclear physics.”
I mean is that all, now I fully understand (eye roll).
God knew I would not comprehend and yet He answered my
question just because I asked. I am in awe of Him even more than
before. This is an example of wisdom
coming through the power of the Holy Spirit. In the natural I don’t have the capacity to come up with
the definition of that much less the concept itself. He has blown me away in the past but this
time I don’t even have words for it. There is no denying the Lord of the Universe heard my thoughts, answered
my questions and is now smiling as I try to put it into words. What started out as a normal day doing yard
work has turned into an awe inspiring revelation of His vastness.
You know it’s easy when you hear stories of
people hearing from God to think a few of different things.
One thing would be to think that they are making it
up. I can assure you I don’t have what it takes to make this one up. It is so far over my head that I couldn’t have come up with it in a million years.
Second, one might think that the person
hearing from the Holy Spirit must have some kind of (for lack of a better word)
special connection. I can assure you if I do anything
special to hear from Him it is that I spend time with Him. I don’t mean four hours in prayer or
anything, but no matter what I’m doing (like yard work) I’m very aware that He is with me, even if He is silent,
which He often is.
Third, thinking God will never talk to me like He does
other “religious”
people. You should expect to hear from Him. Setting up an environment where He doesn’t have to deal with a lot of unnecessary competition
does help. Note: Religion
has nothing to do with hearing from God –
He wants a
relationship with you, even more than you want it with Him.
I’m sure there are many more reasons
people have, but please know that if you want to hear His voice you can. Open a Bible and ask Him to give you a love for His word
and to make Himself real to you. And don’t give up until He does.
